Alarm History Viewer
The Dart Alarm History Viewer window displays alarms, historical records and user's activity
Alarm Viewer Window
-
The Dart Alarm Viewer window is displayed during Dart runtime and shows all active alarms
C
CDMA
Code Division Multiple Access CDMA is a form of multiplexing and a method of multiple access to a physical medium such as radio channel. Also known as spread spectrum, CDMA cellular systems utilize a single frequency band for all traffic, differentiating the individual transmissions by assigning them unique codes before transmission
D
Dart DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) Interface
DDE server capabilities enable information about Dart to be displayed in the DDE client
Dart System Messages
Use the Dart System Messages window to view Dart internal system messages issued by Dart received from the various modules
Data Scope Window
The Dart Data Scope window displays both OPC items and their current values
DCOM
Distributed Component Object Model; is an object protocol that components on a network can use to mutually exchange data
DSN
-
Data Source Name. Data Source Name provides connectivity to a database through an ODBC driver. The DSN consists of the database name, directory, database driver, UserID, password, and more. Once you create a DSN for a particular database, you can use the DSN in an application to call for information from a database. Dart creates a DSN entry to log historical records to a database.
.
E
Emulation
In emulation mode data is emulated by Dart and is not being sent or received. Used mainly for testing or troubleshooting purposes
G
GSM
Global System for Mobile communications, the second generation digital technology originally developed for Europe and now has in excess of 71 per cent of the world market. Initially developed for operation in the 900MHz band and subsequently modified for the 850, 1800 and 1900MHz bands. GSM originally stood for Groupe Speciale Mobile, the CEPT committee which began the GSM standardization process
I
IDEN
Integrated Digital Enhanced Network. A specialized, Motorola proprietary mobile radio network technology that combines two-way radio, telephone, text messaging and data transmission into a single network
IIS
Internet Information Service - a Windows based internet server
M
Mobile Device
Usually refers to a mobile phone. A user can be assigned with more than one mobile device that can be disabled or enabled. DART sends alarm messages to all the currently enabled user's mobile devices. A modem must be defined for each mobile device
O
OPC Client
A software program used to contact and obtain data from a Server software program running on either the same computer or on remote computer. The client makes a request and the server fulfills the request. Dart is an OPC Client and handles the OPC data items from any OPC server/s
OPC Server
An OPC Sever is a software application that acts as an API (Application Programming Interface) or protocol converter. An OPC Server connects to devices such as a PLC, DCS, RTU, or a data source such as a database, HMI, and translates the data into a standard-based OPC format. OPC compliant applications can connect to the OPC Server and use it to read and write device data
P
PDA
Personal Digital Assistant.A small, handheld wireless device capable of storing and/or transmitting pages, data messages, voice calls, faxes and e-mails. A typical PDA can function as a cellular phone, fax device, Web browser and personal organizer. Many PDAs subsequently incorporate handwriting recognition features. Some PDAs can also react to voice input by using voice recognition technologies. Most PDAs are available in either a stylus or keyboard version. PDAs are also called palmtops, hand-help computers, Personal Information Managers (PIMs), and pocket computers
PLC
Programmable Logical Controller - a generic name used to describe a programmable electronic controller used throughout the industry. The device can be remotely controlled and monitored using a SCADA/HMI program. The operator can control the controller's functions and re-program as needed
Policies
Dart policies are assigned to groups and determine the access rights granted to all users assigned to this group when accessing the OPC items using their mobile phones
PWS
A Personal Web Server is a program that allows users to store and access private files remotely from any device connected to the web. It is also a web server program by Microsoft known as PWS
R
Reports
Dart Reports are generated and sent to users when predefined conditions are met in the workplace. Reports can be viewed by the recipient either via WAP, SMS technology or to a PDA device
S
SCADA/HMI
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/Human Machine Interface - a commonly used name for monitoring and control systems in the manufacturing industry
SEK - Software Enable Key
A hardware device that contains the license enabling use of the software. The device has to be connected to a parallel port or a USB port of the computer to enable P-CIM for Windows to fully work - as defined in the SEK. (The SEK is also called "dongle".)
Shift Manager
The Dart Shifts Manager program enables the defining of work shifts and assigning them to users
SMS
Short Messages System - a cellular protocol used for sending short text messages between subscribers on either the same network or other networks
SMS Server
The Dart SMS Server window displays outgoing alarm messages
T
TCP/IP
-
Transmission control protocol/Internet protocol - These two protocols were developed by the U.S. military to allow computers to talk to each other over long distance networks. IP is responsible for moving packets of data between nodes. TCP is responsible for verifying delivery from client to server. TCP/IP forms the basis of the Internet, and is built into every common modern operating system (including all flavors of Unix, the Mac OS, and the latest versions of Windows)
TDMA
Timer Division Multiple Access - A technology used in digital cellular telephone communication to divide each cellular channel into three time slots in order to increase the amount of data that can be carried. GSM and D-AMPS use TDMA in one form or another.
TDMA is also known as IS-136. It is also generally used to describe what was formerly known as D-AMPS. TDMA networks are operated in the United States, Latin America, New Zealand, parts of Russia and Asia Pacific
W
WAP
Wireless Application Protocol - A cellular supported protocol used to access broadband services, the likes of the Internet
